The True Winner in an Election Year

Want to know who the true winner is in an election year?  The Media!!! In no other country is this sort of money spent during a Presidential campaign.  It is mind boggling to me.  In February alone, Senator Clinton's Campaign raised 35 Million Dollars - thats Millions folks.  Senator Obama's camp claims to have raised more.  They did not report an actual figure, but it is said that they raised an estimated 50 Million Dollars.  Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture?

We are electing these officials to help with poverty and schools.  Couldn't some of this money that we give to campaigns be used for these same causes we are electing them to address?  For the entire time since the candidates have been campaigning I am sure, between all of them, they have  raised way over a Billion Dollars.  Are our priorities screwed up?   Do Charities manage to raise this type of money for their causes?

I know the candidates have to advertise to reach the voters, and pay their campaign workers, but this seems to have passed the ridiculous threshold.   Maybe it should be a race of who can raise the most money for their particular charity.  And, all this money should be given to various causes - food for the poor, housing, medicine and healthcare.

In the meantime the media houses are cleaning up.   This is a second superbowl for them.  The only difference is instead of one day, this superbowl is lasting about 20 months.  Forget about the ratings for the news channels.  Their ratings are through the roof!!!
